Raspberry Pi 5 (8 GB) is the first board Meta lists in its Muse Gadgets lineup — and the one that turns Meta’s AI agent into a permanent resident of your home network. With the open-source Linux Device SDK, this credit-card-sized computer stops being a hobby board and becomes the machine Muse actually works from.
Muse gadgets are devices you build yourself. Meta publishes the ESP32 firmware and the Linux SDK under Apache 2.0, so a Raspberry Pi 5 can be paired with a Muse account and given real jobs: running Home Assistant, executing your own shell commands, and reaching anything on the LAN that exposes a local HTTP API. Where an ESP32 gadget gives Muse a screen and a speaker, the Pi 5 gives it an operating system, storage, a shell and eight gigabytes of memory.
This is the 8 GB model (SC1112): Broadcom BCM2712 with a quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 at 2.4 GHz, LPDDR4X-4267 memory, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, two micro-HDMI outputs at up to 4Kp60, a single-lane PCIe 2.0 connector for NVMe storage, the classic 40-pin GPIO header and an on-board real-time clock. Power arrives over USB-C at 5 V / 5 A (25 W) with Power Delivery.
Meta’s own description of this project idea is one line: “Give Muse a way to work with Home Assistant and other popular Linux applications.” Nothing exotic is required to get there — flash Raspberry Pi OS, install the Linux Device SDK from the Muse Gadgets repository, take an SDK token from the official site, and pair the board in the Muse app under Developer mode.
Board only. A 5 V/5 A USB-C power supply, a microSD card and a case are not included; the Pi 5 needs the full 25 W supply to reach its rated performance. SDK tokens are for personal, non-commercial use and cannot be embedded in hardware that is sold or listed on a marketplace.
